Rooted in relationships
What’s in a name? For us, that answer is everything. Our founder, Laury Weiner, grew up around a true mom-and-pop shop — his grandparents lived on the second floor of the family-run grocery store his father owned and operated. When he founded his own financial services practice in 1997, Laury chose the name Weiner Financial Group to honor his family’s customer-first roots.
“If our store didn’t have something a customer wanted, Dad would send me off to go get it,” Laury recalled. “I realize now I learned so much from my father because, for him, taking care of the customer always came first. He knew them, their families, and wanted to take care of them. If I’m not helping people then I shouldn’t be doing what I’m doing, because it’s really not about the money.”

President
Driven to careers where he could make a positive difference, Laury Weiner founded Weiner Financial Group in 1997 after a successful stint as a hospital chief financial officer. His problem-solving skills and relationship-focused, education-based approach has resonated with the families who entrust Laury with the health of their finances and the retirement future they’ve worked so hard to secure.
Laury is a financial professional who can offer both insurance and investment products and services. He earned a bachelor’s degree in accountancy from the University of Illinois and an MBA in finance from DePaul University and is both a Certified Public Accountant and a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional. For north of three decades, Laury has been a trusted source of quality investment management, long-term financial planning and tax optimization strategies for families and businesses in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and across the U.S.
Laury lives in Ann Arbor with his wife Jessica, a Professor Emerita of Dance at the University of Michigan. The couple have an adult daughter, Annabel, who lives in Seattle. Laury and Jessica enjoy traveling to international art museums and historic places as well as serving their local community whenever possible. Laury's other hobbies include cycling and weight training, and he's successfully completed three Chicago Marathons.
Julie Ehlert
Financial Planning Assistant
Passions for people and finance led Julie to Weiner Financial Group. She joined the firm in 2001 after meaningful experience as head teller at a bank. Her responsibilities include handling all client service issues, including setting up new accounts and answering questions related to services. Julie’s approach to client relationships is rooted in comfort and trust. A financial professional who can offer both insurance and investment products and services, Julie holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from New Hampshire College.
Julie and her husband, Mark, call Brooklyn, Michigan, home. They relish their time with Mark’s two kids and grandkids, making family an integral part of their lives. Outside work, Julie’s interests are wide-ranging. From reading, crocheting and puzzle-solving to baking during the holiday season, she keeps herself busy. Living on the lake, Julie and Mark can often be spotted on the water. They own a pontoon and a speedboat, enjoy kayaking and also enjoy long neighborhood walks.
